Elton John thinks Justin Timberlake should play him in a biopic

Casting a biopic is a tricky process: for every brilliant, inspired, star-making performance, there's a casting choice that is so wacky and out-of-left-field that you have to wonder what kind of cocaine was making the rounds of the Hollywood execs' offices when the project was in development. According to an interview with the LA Times, Elton John wants Justin Timberlake to play him in an upcoming biopic, which sounds like it could potentially fall somewhere in between those two poles.
John says J.T., who played a "Rocket Man"-era Elton John in the David LaChappelle-directed video for John's 2002 single "This Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore" (below), is at the top of his "wish list of people" to play E.J. the Younger in an upcoming biopic, which he describes as "a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge." The screenplay will be penned by Billy Eliot writer Lee Hall, and a big-name director is apparently already attached to the project, though John won't divulge who it is.
Depending on how you feel about Moulin Rouge, surreal biopics, and the music of Elton John, this either sounds like the most fabulous idea ever or the most wretched cinematic sparkle-fart since 2010's Burlesque. Assuming you're on board with the concept, however, Timberlake's definitely got the pipes, charisma, and love of sequined all-denim ensembles to pull the role off. What say you, Nerve readers?
